Gestational diabetes mellitus is the most common complication of pregnancy. It is also a risk factor for the development of diabetes in children. My research is focused on investigating the fundamental mechanisms involved in the development of gestational diabetes and how gestational diabetes contributes to the development of obesity, diabetes and related cardiovascular disease in youth. Our aim is to guide the development of novel therapies for obesity, diabetes and heart disease.
